Thankful

Some people are doing 30 days of thanks, but I’m doing this one post.

I’m thankful for science and math which have given me so many gifts, I am thankful for higher education, for my university, and for all those who advance reason and knowledge.

I’m thankful to have found a path where am able to dream big, to have lofty dreams and to work my ass off to achieve those dreams.

I’m thankful for the Chinese who are so great at helping to make amazing things with us, I’m happy to collaborate in working with them inside this global village.

I’m thankful for the freedom that I have to speak my mind without being censored.

I’m thankful for my family, even those who are beyond my embrace.

I’m thankful to those who helped me become who I am, to my parents who gave me a stimulating childhood.

I’m thankful for the freedom I have to marry the one I love.  I will fight so that this freedom is extended to non-heterosexual couples.

I’m thankful for my Wife, an amazing woman who complements me, completes me and keeps me in line.

I’m thankful for peace which surrounds me, I pray that peace will come to israel & palestine, that peace will come to Syria, and that there will be diplomacy instead of war with Iran.

I’m thankful for technology and all the amazing things that have been enabled by it.

I’m thankful to modern medicine, which has saved me and some of those closest to me.

I’m thankful for my proximity to nature where I can find some solitude and a respit from technological overstimulation.

I’m thankful for the bounty of Food that we have.  I derive pleasure from preparing food for people and have them enjoy it. It’s even better than eating good food yourself.

I’m thankful to have been born a privileged race, a privileged gender, a privileged place, a privileged time.
